I buy a lot of books, more than I can read. But sometimes I look at selected book's parts, without reading the whole.
I prefer to buy used books for two reasons:
1. Used books are usually cheaper, which is nice to my poor wallet,
2. It's eco-friendly way. Why print so many books, why cut down so many trees, when books can be reused?
... also, sometimes I buy eBooks, and use my smartphone to read these. eBooks are more eco-friendly than printed ones.
Usually however - being an old-school person as am I - prefer the printed books over the digital ones... my fault, nobody's perfect. :(
I think that the Kindle devices can work well when one's smartphone is not good enough. But when smartphone is sufficient, better to not buy extra electronics.
Electronic devices are not so eco-friendly, not so easily recycled. :(

Ecological Printers for PC/Windows & Mac computers.
For those who care for ecology & environment: HP ENVY Inspire 7220e All-in-One Wireless Printer recommended by Apple. It's compatible with many of Mac and PC/Windows computers, and details about compatibility are available in the Internet.
More than ecological construction & materials, there's monthly subscription for ink exchange (HP Instant Ink), part of it's profits is spent on ecology via trusted and professional organizations.
Printer is wirelessly connected to the Internet, and - if you subscribe to the Instant Ink Programme - its producer will know when ink levels become low and will send replacement(s). Part of profits from this subscription are spent on ecology, and when ink container becomes empty, it's recommended to send it to the producer for ecological recycling. Special envelope is attached to inks that make it easier to send ink containers for recycling. Just put containers in this envelope and put into mailbox. It's addressed and ready to send.
I am using similar printer (earlier model, HP ENVY 6020e All‑in‑One Printer) with instant ink subscription for years, and it works great!. It's wireless and Internet-connected too.
